چکیده
Objective: The aim was to evaluate the influence of fluoride-releasing restorative materials in enamel and dentinmicrohardness. Material Methods: 40 blocks (5x5x3 mm) from cervical third human molars received a cavitypreparation between dentin, restorations were subjected vitro caries model. Specimenswere randomly restored with (n=10): conventional glass ionomer cement (Ketac Cem, 3M ESPE); polyacid-modifiedcomposite resin (Ionoseal, VOCO); resin-modified (Ionofast, Biodinâmica); or microhybridcomposite (Filtek Z250, ESPE). specimens sectioned longitudinally dentinKnoop microhardness determined at different distances material (100, 200 300 um)and depth surface (20, 60 um). data submitted three-way repeated measures ANOVA andTukey´s test (a=0.05). Results: For enamel, double interactions x distance xdepth statistically significant. In all depths distances, highest values wereobserved for Ketac Cem. differed each other, Ionoseal obtained highermicrohardness than those found Ionofast. Conclusion: Conventional is more effectivein preventing demineralization around restoration followed by polyacid-modified composite resin. Indentin, better performance cement.KEYWORDSCompomers; Dental caries; Glass cements; Hardness tests; Composite Resins.

Timing of fluoride toothpaste use and enamel-dentin demineralization.
It is well established that fluoride (F) prevents caries development by inhibiting demineralization and enhancing remineralization processes. However, it is not known which of these protective mechanisms is more important. In this double-blind, crossover in situ study conducted in three phases of 14 days each, 12 volunteers wore palatal appliances containing enamel and root dentin slabs, on whi...
متن کاملPotential inhibition of demineralization in vitro by fluoride-releasing sealants.
BACKGROUND The incorporation of fluoride into sealants has been viewed as a viable way to prevent pit-and-fissure caries by potential inhibition of demineralization through the release of fluoride to enamel. The authors conducted a study to examine the effect of a recently introduced fluoride-releasing sealant (ProSeal, Reliance Orthodontic Products, Itasca, Ill.) on enamel demineralization in ...
متن کاملInfluence of photo-activation source on enamel demineralization around restorative materials.
This study evaluated the effects of the photoactivation source and restorative material on the development of caries-like lesions on human enamel after an in vitro pH challenge. Enamel cavities were prepared in 36 blocks, which were assigned to two groups according to the restorative material: resin-modified glass ionomer (RMGI) and composite resin (CR). Samples were exposed to quartz-tungsten-...
متن کاملEffect of fluoride toothpastes on enamel demineralization
BACKGROUND It was the aim of this study to investigate the effect of four different toothpastes with differing fluoride compounds on enamel remineralization. METHODS A 3 x 3 mm window on the enamel surface of 90 human premolars was demineralized in a hydroxyethylcellulose solution at pH 4.8. The teeth were divided into 6 groups and the lower half of the window was covered with varnish serving...
